This unusual life story begins in Moscow, capital of the USSR, in 1980, continues in 2015 in one of Azerbaijan's picturesque north-western districts and ends in far-away Cuba. Ilgar Suleymanov, bronze medallist of the Moscow Olympics, left professional sport long ago and lives quietly in his home town, teaching physical education at the local school, often listening to the radio and spending his free time with his colleagues and closest friends Valeh and Dadash. Every weekend the friends fish by a lake a little outside town, joke, drink home-made wine and enjoy life. Yet every evening Ilgar comes home alone, for cheerful as he is, he is a lonely man — no family, no children, no view of the future, no plans, no faith. Then one day someone knocks at his door and his life changes completely.
