A young man and a young woman are the leading actors of a theatre company preparing a production to be shown abroad. In real life they feel a deep dislike for one another and avoid contact — yet on stage they play lovers. During rehearsals the border between the role and reality gradually disappears, and the words of love spoken on stage begin to turn into real feeling. The theatre puts them before a choice: the dislike offstage, or the love born on it?
