
Ali-Sattar Guliyev was born on 8 December 1981 in the city of Baku. He finished secondary school No. 134 in Baku. In 2002 he graduated from the film directing faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. After military service, he entered the master's programme in 2003 and graduated from the same faculty with a red diploma. He also studied at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (2004–2006). He worked in Azerbaijani television. In 2007 he founded his own production centre, starting out by shooting music videos and commercials. He worked in customer service at "Azercell" (2003–2007), as art director at İz Production (2008–2012), as manager at "Tonica Production" (2012–2016), as deputy director of the "Azanfilm" studio (2011–2015), and from 2015 to 2023 as director of the "Mozalan" studio. From 2023 to 2024 he worked as a director at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. From 2024 to 2026 he worked as director of the "Nizami" Cinema Centre. Since 2026 he has been a member of the Artistic Council of the Film Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 2023: the film "When the Stadiums Are Silent" — Best Sports Film of the Year 2024: National Film Award of the Azerbaijan Union of Cinematographers (for the film "Olimpia") 2025: "Golden Fairy" film award (Best Debut Film, "Farewell, Schmidt!")
