The film is about a soldier who fought at the Brest fortress in 1941 and took up arms again fifty years later in the Karabakh war. Its events reflect a Russian officer's view of that war. Filming took place in Baku, Brest, Minsk and the settlement of Vileyka in Belarus. The film is dedicated to the seventieth anniversary of the victory over fascism in the Second World War.
