
She has worked at the Yug State Theatre since 1990. Gulzar Gurbanova has performed successfully in productions including "Oghul" (Banu Chichak, "The Book of Dede Gorgud"), "Salam" (Shahriyar's wife, on M. Shahriyar), "Sama" (Sada, on Sh. I. Khatai), "Achar" (the Fox, by G. Nizami), "Umid" (Woman), "Dad" (the Capricious Girl, by M. Fuzuli), "Sentimental Waltz" (Natasha, by A. P. Chekhov), "I'm Looking for a Man to Meet Now and Then" (Woman, by R. Ibrahimbeyov), "On the Deathbed" (the Writer, by A. Masud), "Vasl" (Woman, by M. Fuzuli), "Yar" (Woman, by M. Fuzuli), "The Unknown Akhundzade" (Shahrabanu / Khoja Masud, by M. F. Akhundzade), "Medea" (Medea, by V. Klim), and "Don't Forget My Voice" (Woman, by K. Abdulla), among others. She has created more than 20 roles in film. The actress has won audiences' affection with the compelling characters she created in films such as "The Window of Sorrow" (1986), "The Exam" (1987), "Forgive Me If I Die" (1989), "The Sixth Floor of a Five-Storey Building" (1996), "Territory" (2005), "Death of a Rabbit" (2008), "One Step" (2009), "Side Effect" (2010), "No One Was Better Than My Brother" (2010), "Through the Eyes of a Nightmare" (2010), "Hail" (2012), "Mayak" (2012), "Envoy of the Dawn" (2012), "Breath of the Jackal" (2013), "Unfinished Memories" (2015), and "The Red Garden" (2016). In 2015 she was awarded the "Golden Fairy" prize in the category of "Best Female Role" for the film "Unfinished Memories." In 2024, within the framework of cooperation with the Vietnam Cinema Association aimed at strengthening Vietnamese-Azerbaijani film relations, representatives of the Azerbaijani film delegation and of the Azerbaijan Cinematographers' Union — Honoured Artist and actress Gulzar Gurbanova and Honoured Artist and actor Javanshir Hadiyev — paid an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 9 to 14 September to attend the "Golden Kite 2024" award ceremony organised by the Vietnam Cinema Association.
