Jamil (Parviz Mammadrzayev) works as a craftsman in one of the districts. One day his former fellow student Mehman (Tural Aghayev), a psychiatrist, is sent there on assignment. From Jamil's conversation it emerges that after his father's death he lost interest in everything, left his studies unfinished, returned to the district and started a family. Arriving, Mehman sees a young woman running after the bus he came on, calling “Arif, Arif”. He later learns that this young woman, Sabina (Hajar Aghayeva), had a sweetheart who went to military service and was killed at the front. Shattered by the news of his death, Sabina lost her mind: she does not react to those around her, lives in her own world and every evening meets the buses from Baku, waiting for Arif. Mehman decides to try to cure her, and turns to an experiment. He learns that the last time Sabina saw Arif on leave he was in uniform, so he puts on military clothes, and when he steps off the bus she is waiting for, the shock makes her faint. After that shock Sabina will either recover — or stay as she was.
