
Parviz Mammadrzayev graduated in 1994 from the directing faculty of the theatre collective programme at the M. A. Aliyev Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts. From 1994 he has worked at the Pantomime theatre studio operating under the Azerbaijan State Young Spectators' Theatre. The theatre studio gained State status in 2000. Possessing natural talent, stage culture and a gift for improvisation, Parviz Mammadrzayev established himself as a professional actor during this period through his successful performances in productions such as S. Mrożek's The Police, Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev's Who Is Guilty?, B. Khanizade's The Drummers, The Standard-Bearers and Journey to the East, S. Musabayov's Shangul, Shungul, Mangul, Sh. Attar's Flight, Uzeyir Hajibeyov's The Potter, and William Shakespeare's Love. In 1998 Parviz Mammadrzayev studied in the master classes of the world-renowned Georgian director Robert Sturua. Together with the collective he took part in various festivals and seminars held in many countries of the world. He represented Azerbaijan with dignity and promoted the Pantomime Theatre at the "Theatre+Video" festival in Georgia, the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Russia, the celebrations of the 1300th anniversary of the Dede Gorgud epic in France, the IV Ankara Theatre Festival in Turkey, the "Summer Academy of Performing Arts" seminars in Bulgaria, the "Golden Mask" International Theatre Festival in Georgia, the I International Pantomime Festival in Iran, the "Unidram VIII" Festival in Germany, the VI Ankara Theatre Festival in Turkey, the "Friendship" Theatre Festival in Iran, the Experimental Theatre Festival in Egypt, and a number of other international events. In March 2010 he began working independently, and in May of that year he founded the "Simsar" theatre studio. The theatre studio presented its first production, Vaga, on 27 January 2011. From 2013 to 2016 he worked as a teacher of rhythm and plasticity at the studio of the Academic National Drama Theatre and simultaneously as an actor of that theatre. Since 2017 he has worked as an actor at the Azerbaijan State Musical Theatre. He is the founder and artistic director of the "Human Theatre," established on 8 January 2017 with the aim of protesting against the rise of violence in our modern world, the humiliation of human dignity, exposure to physical and psychological violence, and religious and gender discrimination between people, with humanism, gender issues, human rights and legal equality as its core ideas. The theatre presented its first production, The Third, based on Sławomir Mrożek's tragicomedy Karol, on 29 March 2017. Since 2001 he has also worked as a teacher at the Department of Choreographic Art and Stage Plasticity of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (teaching stage movement, stage combat, sword training, plasticity and pantomime) as well as at the Department of Musical Theatre Acting. On 16 May 2006 he was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and on 1 August 2018 the title of People's Artist.
