The film is dedicated to the traditional friendship of Azerbaijani and Uzbek cotton growers competing with one another. At its centre is the pure love of two young people — the Uzbek girl Lala (Nelli Ataullayeva) and the Azerbaijani Kamil (Arif Mirzagulyev). His love for Lala, a celebrated cotton grower and hero of labour, lifts the idle and careless Kamil into the ranks of the best farm workers. The film advances a simple idea: work adorns a person, raises them in the eyes of others and brings them happiness.
