The shoemaker Gadir cannot earn enough to buy his daughter Gonche a kamancha, and his wife Naz scolds him for it every day. Rasim, the son of Master Yusif, will not sell the instrument for a kopeck less than five hundred dollars. Left with no way out, Gadir has to accept the terms offered by Farman, who has come from Moscow.
