
Loghman Karimov was born on 11 January 1959 in Baku. He graduated from the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts in 1982. Working as an actor at the Azerbaijan State Young Spectators' Theatre, L. Karimov created nearly 30 memorable characters. His portrayal of Aliagha Vahid in the "Azerbaijanfilm" studio production "Ghazal Singer" was highly praised by a wide audience. From 1998 Loghman Karimov began working as a director at his home theatre, and during this period he successfully staged Elchin's "Mahmud and Maryam" (which was declared the most successful production of 1999), "Death Sentence," S.S. Akhundov's "Karaja Girl," A. Damirchizade's "Dadam Gorgud," A. Babayev's "A Story That Happened," and M. Marignan's "The Lottery." L. Karimov also staged "Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves," "Scarlet Flower," and "Beautiful Fatma" in the theatre's Russian section. He has worked as a director at the Azerbaijan State Young Spectators' Theatre and currently serves as chief director of the Shusha State Musical Drama Theatre. L. Karimov was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Artist in 2006, and has been a laureate of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan's Prize since 2002.
