The film tells of the powerful love between Yargunat and Yarmat — a love so strong that nothing could stand in its way. Yargunat's parents wanted to marry her to Osman so that every blessing of life would be laid at her feet, and the unlucky girl was one day given to him — but at that very moment Yarmat stopped the marriage. A woman comes to the yard and says the German fascists have started a war, and soon some of the village's young men are mobilised to keep them out of Azerbaijan. Yargunat never lets Osman touch her and stays faithful to her love for Yarmat. Forty years pass, and Yarmat appears before Yargunat with Sadir and Lazgiya. Shocked for a moment, Yargunat collapses. After supper with Yarmat, Sadir, Lazgiya and Yargunat, he returns to his family in Turkey — and so this sorrowful story ends.
