The film tells of a people's struggle against a merciless and cruel ruler who has seized their land and water. The scholar-physician Eldostu, his devoted pupil Matanat, the brave young craftsman Elshan and old Kamran lead that struggle. The film shows that the unity of a people — the unity of knowledge and strength — triumphs over evil and brings happiness to thousands. Filming took place at the foot of Bozdagh near Mingachevir, in Ismayilli, Kalbajar, Mardakan, Saint Petersburg and in the studio. The film is based on motifs from Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib's play “The Flowering Mountain”, which in turn draws on Azerbaijani folk tales.
