The film deals with events at the beginning of the nineteenth century, on the eve of the final collapse of the Azerbaijani khanates, at the time when the country was divided in two. It was shot in the Jeyran plain near Salyan, in Sheki, Pirakushkul and Baku; its working title was The Death of the Dervish.
