
Hasan Aghamammad oghlu Mammadov was born on 22 November 1938 in Salyan district. He finished Secondary School No. 2 there in 1956 and entered the physics and mathematics faculty of Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University). He left the university in his second year and worked for a time as an actor in the supporting companies of various theatres. In 1962 he graduated from the Mirzaagha Aliyev Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts. During his student years he worked intermittently at State Radio (1960–1961). H. Mammadov graduated in 1962 from the class of the famous stage figure Mehdi Mammadov and was sent by assignment to the Academic National Drama Theatre. He also began working in film that same year. H. Mammadov appeared in more than 50 films. On 10 September 1962 he became a member of the acting company of this ancient artistic institution. Over the following ten years, due to filming commitments, he repeatedly left and returned to the theatre for various periods. As a film actor, Hasan Mammadov grew more famous year by year, and on 2 February 1972 he transferred from the Academic theatre and was hired at the "Azerbaijanfilm" studio. On 17 May 1989 he was invited to play the role of Ilyas Ibrahimov in the staging of Jamil Alibayov's drama "Murder in Gulustan" (staged by director Aghakishi Kazimov). At the invitation of the director and artistic director of the Academic theatre, Hasanagha Turabov, H. Mammadov worked in the acting company of his native theatre from 21 November 1992 until the end of his life. The actor's repertoire includes stage characters from productions of works by national and European classics as well as contemporary Azerbaijani and foreign playwrights.
