Isi Malikzade was born on 1 May 1934 in the Aghjabadi district of Azerbaijan. He received his secondary education at the Khalfaraddin village secondary school in Aghjabadi, and his higher education at what is now the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry. Isi Malikzade is one of the outstanding masters of the word produced by Azerbaijani prose in the 20th century. As one of the prominent representatives of 20th-century Azerbaijani literature, Isi Malikzade is an artist unlike anyone else in literature, whose individual creative talent and style remain unforgettable in the people's memory. I. Malikzade, who began his working life as an operator in the oil fields, was also engaged in literary creativity from a young age. Even while studying in secondary school, he actively participated in the drama clubs organised there, created various characters in different dramatic works, and recited poetry at literary-artistic creative evenings. The writer began his literary work with short stories. But in Isi Malikzade's prose — in his novellas — the social-philosophical problems that troubled and preoccupied society in the 1970s and 1980s of the 20th century were raised. In 1964 Isi Malikzade's first book, "The End of Longing," was published. In subsequent years his books "Someone Else's Mother" (1969), "Fragile Wings" (1973), "I Have Sprinkled the Streets with Water" (1977), "Green Night" (1979), "Sunny Autumn" (1982), "Grandfather Oak" (1984), "The Legend of Gumushgol" (1987), "The Light of the Dewy Meadows" (1991), and "The Novruz Holiday of the Wanderers" (1992) were published.
