
Samir Karimoglu (Samir Aghakarim oghlu Karimov) was born in Baku. In 1990 he entered the management faculty of the Institute of Futurology, but in 1993 he left his studies unfinished and moved to the city of Antalya in Turkey. After working in the tourism sector in Antalya for 6 years, he returned to Azerbaijan in 1999. In 2000 he seized the first opportunity that came his way to work in the film industry, a childhood dream, and began working as a video editor at MTM production. He began his directing career in 2002 with a music video, and won the "Best Video" award at the International Audiovisual Festival for a video he made for the group "Music Lee" (2003). Since 2007 he has worked as a director in the film industry.
