
Sabit Rahman was born on March 26, 1910, in Sheki (then called Nukha). He began his literary career in 1926–1927 with feuilletons published in the magazine Molla Nasraddin. His first collection of short stories, "Pozğun", was published in 1931. He is the author of numerous short stories and plays. Sabit Rahman is regarded as one of the founders of Azerbaijani comedy. He wrote the screenplays for the world-famous films "Arşın mal alan," "O olmasın, bu olsun," "Koroğlu," and "Əhməd haradadır?," as well as the libretto for the musical comedy "Ulduz" and the ballet "Yeddi gözəl." In 1943 he was awarded the title of Honoured Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR and was twice decorated with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour and various medals. The Sheki Drama Theatre bears his name, and streets in both Baku and Sheki are named after him. Sabit Rahman died in Baku in 1970.
