
Zabit Samadov was born into an Azerbaijani family in Georgia and moved to Minsk at the age of 10. He began doing sport at the age of 9. He first practised karate for six months under the guidance of Aziz Dursunov. He then took up Muay Thai. From 1998 he continued his training at the well-known Chinuk GYM sports club in Minsk. He trained alongside Alexey Ignashov and Sergei Gur under coach Dmitry Piochevsky. Zabit Samadov became world and European champion several times during his amateur career. He later turned to professional fighting. He currently lives in Belarus. On 26 January 2007, at the "K-1 Rules Kick Tournament 2007 in Marseilles" held in France, he fought three bouts and, winning the final by knockout, became champion of the tournament. On 17 August 2007, at the K-1 World GP held in Las Vegas, he showed a strong performance. He fought three bouts in this tournament: he won two of them and lost the final by a very narrow margin to Doug Viney. On 26 April 2008 Samadov took part in the K-1 World GP 2008 in Amsterdam, held in the Netherlands, again fighting three bouts. In his first bout he avenged his loss to Doug Viney, then won his next bout as well, but lost the final to Errol Zimmerman. On 13 July 2008 Samadov fought one of K-1''s most famous fighters, Ray Sefo. The bout was very difficult for Samadov, but he overcame the challenge and won. On 23 May 2009 Zabit Samadov took part in a tournament held in Poland. He fought three bouts in this tournament and won all three, becoming champion of the tournament. He played the character Shamsaddin Eldaniz in the multi-part feature film "The Atabegs of Azerbaijan".
