
Vidadi Aliyev was born into a family of intellectuals in the village of Goycali in the Aghstafa district. After finishing secondary school, he began his career as a builder in construction. In 1967 he graduated from the Faculty of Drama and Film Acting of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts. That same year he began his career as an actor at the Jafar Jabbarli Yerevan State Azerbaijani Drama Theatre. From 1988 to 2000 he was director and artistic director of the J. Jabbarli Yerevan State Azerbaijani Drama Theatre. As an actor he created a range of characters in nearly 180 productions. His portrayals of Balash ("Sevil", Jafar Jabbarli), Askar bey ("Arshin Mal Alan", Uzeyir Hajibayov), Florella ("All''s Well That Ends Well", William Shakespeare), Fikrat ("The Second Voice", Bakhtiyar Vahabzade), Yashar ("Yashar", Jafar Jabbarli), Bahram ("Faded Flowers", Jafar Jabbarli), Musa kishi ("The Wedding", Sabit Rahman), Volodya ("The Tribunal", A. Makayonok), Rustam ("Why Do You Live?", Hasan Seyidbeyli), the Father ("A House on Sand", Rustam Ibrahimbeyov) and Uncle Karam ("I Cannot Forget", Ilyas Afandiyev) won the applause of audiences. He played Kamil in "When the Owl Comes", Aziz in the film "I Have Sprinkled Water on the Streets", and the father in "Sari Gelin". As a director he staged a number of major productions, including "The Tribunal" (A. Makayonok), "The Twins" (P. Pachev), "Jealous Hearts" (M. Hagverdiyev), "The Proposal" (A. P. Chekhov) and "The Thief" (M. Birkiyev), among others.
