
Sanubar Sabir gizi Isgandarova was born on 25 October 1960 in the city of Baku. In 1990 she graduated from the faculty of cultural-educational work of the M.A. Aliyev Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts. She has one daughter and two grandchildren. Sanubar Isgandarova joined the troupe of the State Youth Theatre in 1989, performing the roles of Halima khanim ("The Day of the Execution," Y. Samadoghlu), Tamara ("Dadashbala's Operation," R. Alizade), Leyli ("Leyli and Majnun," M. Fuzuli), Fariza ("Martyrs," R. Samandar), Bahar ("Who Is to Blame," A. Haqverdiyev), Tomris ("Seven Female Prisoners," A. Amirli), the Singing Girl ("The Field of Tulips," R. Alizade), the Guest ("Gurbanali bey," J. Mammadguluzade), Elena ("A Midsummer Night's Dream," W. Shakespeare), the Girl (S. Stratiev's "Desperate Passengers"), Agrippina (Hubai's "Nero Is Acting"), among other roles. Since 1997 the actress has worked at the Azerbaijan Academic National Drama Theatre, performing on its stage the roles of Xiyang Shi ("The Sword That Cuts Us," B. Vahabzade), the Executor ("Oedipus Rex," Sophocles), Burla Khatun ("Burla Khatun," N. Khazri), Nisa khanim ("The Vizier of the Khan of Lankaran," M.F. Akhundov), Ulduz ("Ulduz, or the Conquest of Edirne," J. Jabbarli), Aysel ("Unpunished Sin," B. Vahabzade), Gertrude ("Hamlet," W. Shakespeare), Farangiz and Françoise ("Letters from Brussels," H. Hasanov), Mollie ("The Mousetrap," A. Christie), Sarvinaz bayim ("Bury the Dead in the Cemetery," I. Shikhli), Nora ("A Doll's House," H. Ibsen), the Fortune-teller ("The Patron," A. Amirli), Klara Wäscher ("The Visit of the Old Lady," F. Dürrenmatt), the mistress ("The General's Last Order," Vagif Samadoghlu), the Woman ("The 21-15 Train," T. Orbay), Sveta ("Classmates," Y. Polyakov), Lal Byuz (J. Mammadguluzade's "The Madmen's Assembly"), and Hajar ("Dante's Jubilee," Anar). Sanubar Isgandarova has appeared in the television plays "Fame or the Forgotten Man" (the Woman), "Gurbanali bey" (the Lady), "The Man with the Green Glasses" (Jala), "Sweet Tea" (the Actress), "White Nights" (Nastya), "The Love of the Swan" (Gular), and "The Council of Conquerors" (Olcay Turkan Khatun), and in the films "A Man's Word" (Solmaz), "The Witness Girl" (Rana), "Cry" (Ismayil's wife), "A Chance Meeting" (Tamara khanim), "Leyli and Majnun" (Leyli's mother), and "The Fate of the Ruler" (Tubu khatun). On Khazar TV she played Afat khanim in the series "The Mother-in-Law" and Zamina in the series "The Family Hearth." In 2002 she was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan. She was awarded the President's Prize on 9 May 2012, 10 May 2019, 7 May 2020, 7 May 2021, 6 May 2023 and 9 May 2024. On 8 March 2016 she was awarded the "Businesswoman of the Year" prize by the Public Union for the Study of Women and Children's Problems for her contribution to Azerbaijani culture and art, including her film work. She has also been awarded the "Golden Dervish" prize. On 10 March 2021 she was awarded the "Artist" medal established by the Azerbaijan Union of Theatre Workers.
