
Novruz Agha oghlu Akhundov was born on 29 May 1938 in Nakhchivan. His mother was from the Daralayaz region of Western Azerbaijan, and his father from Sharur. His family moved to Baku while he was a child. The family lived first in Kurdakhani, then in Pirshaghi. Novruz Akhundov graduated from Kurdakhani secondary school in 1955. In 1962 he entered the "film and drama acting" faculty of the Institute of Arts. He was a student of the People's Artist of the USSR Adil Iskandarov. He worked as a director at the Jafar Jabbarli "Azerbaijanfilm" studio. Novruz Akhundov played the role of "Long-legged Oqtay" in the film "Where Is Ahmad?" This film was the actor's first work in cinema. He appeared in a series of roles in the "Mozalan" satirical film magazine. He also worked as a director on the translation of "Mozalan" segments into foreign languages. At the "Dubbing" department, his main place of work, he directed the Azerbaijani-language dubbing of nearly 500 foreign films as a top-category director. He retired in 1998 and is currently retired. He has two sons, a daughter and six grandchildren.
