
Natig Rasulzade was born on 5 June 1949 in Baku. In 1975 he graduated from the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute in Moscow. Since 1979 he has been a member of the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan, the Union of Cinematographers and the Union of Theatre Workers. For nearly 40 years his works have been published in many languages and in renowned countries around the world. More than 40 of his books have been published in Azerbaijan, the USA, Russia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Poland and elsewhere. His works have been awarded many prestigious national and international literary prizes. In 1984 he was awarded the All-Union N. Ostrovsky Prize. Natig Rasulzade is the author of widely acclaimed works such as "Diary of a Suicide," "Night Courier," "Nonsense," "The Year of Love," "A Rainy Holiday," "Among Nightmares," "I Draw a Bird," "Star Roads," "The Trap" and "The Islet." His screenplays formed the basis of dozens of notable films, including "Don't Believe in Angels," "Rain on a Holiday," "Live, Goldfish," "Terror," "The Client," "Murder on the Night Train," "How Beautiful Is This World...," "Hostage," "The Sorcerer," and "We Will Return." In 2017 a production titled "Meme," based on the writer's work, was staged at the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theatre. He is the author of more than 200 stories and more than 50 books.
