
Namig Hasan oglu Aliyev was born on 1 November 1971 in the city of Sumgait. His family originally comes from Zangazur. He finished School No. 28. He graduated from the drama theatre and film acting faculty of the University of Culture and Arts. He began writing poetry at the age of 10. He worked in the genre of bediha (meykhana), a branch of oral folk literature. He became known from 1992 onward for such bediha pieces as "Qoyma ay qardaş vətən əldən gedir," "Xəzan gəlibdir, Çəmən əldən gedir," and "Heydər Əliyev olacaq köməyimiz". He served on the judging panel of a number of competitions. In 2006 he won the "De gəlsin söz" competition. He donated the car he won to a boarding home for the sick located in the Saray settlement. He authored the project "Sözüm var, Sözün var?". He hosted the closing concert of the 2nd International Mugham Competition, held with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. In 2009, at the invitation of the American ambassador and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, he spent a month in the United States giving performances to promote Azerbaijani culture and the bediha genre. He is the author of several books and many poems. He has given numerous concerts for military units at the front line. On 20 November 2019 he was awarded the "Taraggi" (Progress) medal for his contribution to the socio-economic development of the city of Sumgait.
