
Mirza Ibrahimov (15 (28) October 1911, Eyvazh (Sarab), East Azerbaijan Province – 17 December 1993, Baku) was an Azerbaijani writer, playwright and public figure, an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR (1945). Hero of Socialist Labour (1981), People's Writer of the Azerbaijan SSR (1961), laureate of the "Stalin" Prize (1951), laureate of the Mirza Fatali Akhundov Azerbaijan SSR State Prize (1965), laureate of the international Nehru Prize (1979). Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR (1954–1958), Commissar and Minister of Education of the Azerbaijan SSR (1942–1947), chairman of the board of the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan (1948–1954), first secretary (1965–1976, 1981–1986), deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from 1937 to 1991 (with interruptions), deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR (3rd–4th, 6th–7th and 9th convocations), People's Deputy of the USSR (1989).
