
Huseynagha Alasgar oglu Sadigov, originally from South Azerbaijan, was born on 21 March 1914 in Baku. A year after the founding of the Young Spectators'' Theatre, in 1930, he was admitted on a trial basis to the theatre''s troupe through a competitive selection. On 1 June 1931 he was formally taken on as an actor of the theatre troupe. He was entrusted with important roles from the very beginning. Over more than fifty years as an actor at the Young Spectators'' Theatre, his principal roles included: Pitli ("The Post Office", Rabindranath Tagore), Khasay, El oghlu, Malik ibn Said ("Khasay", "El Oghlu" and "An Hour as Caliph", Abdulla Shaig), Bobchinsky, Zhevakin ("The Government Inspector" and "Marriage", Nikolai Gogol), Seryozha Streltsov ("Seryozha Streltsov", Valentina Lyubimova), Azad ("Azad", Ayyub Abbasov), Mirza Goshunali ("The Unfortunate Youth", Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev), Hasan ("Yashar", Jafar Jabbarli), Truffaldino ("The Servant of Two Masters", Carlo Goldoni), Rajab ("Shirinbala Gathers Honey", Salam Gadirzade), Salim ("Dear Mother", Yusif Azimzade), Speed ("The Two Gentlemen of Verona", William Shakespeare), Kai ("The Snow Queen", Yevgeny Schwartz), Haji Murad ("The Greedy One", Suleyman Sani Akhundov), James Burton ("The Gadfly", Ethel Voynich), Geronte ("The Impostures of Scapin", Jean-Baptiste Moliere), Mashadi Jabbar, Tarverdi ("Molla Ibrahimkhalil the Alchemist" and "The Bear, the Robber-Catcher", Mirza Fatali Akhundzade), Jabi, Ahmad ("Haji Gambar" and "Agha Karim Khan Ardabili", Najaf bey Vazirov), the captain ("Gavroche", staged by Zafar Nematov and Ali Ismayilov based on Victor Hugo''s novel "Les Miserables"), Mirpasha ("Komsomol Poem", Iskandar Joshgun), Shah Alamgir ("Farewell, India!", Geybulla Rasulov), the apothecary ("Romeo and Juliet", William Shakespeare), Shamdan bey ("Shamdan Bey", Nariman Narimanov), and Abbas ("My Singing Aunt", Akram Aylisli). Huseynagha Sadigov died on 23 February 1983 in Baku.
