Habib Ismayilov was born on 21 February 1906 in the city of Nakhchivan. His family had previously lived in the village of Nehram. His father and grandfather were engaged in agriculture there, and after moving to Nakhchivan they took up blacksmithing. Due to their financial situation, the Ismayilov family moved to the city of Tiflis in 1910. Habib Ismayilov attended secondary school in the city of Tiflis.
