
Fikrat Aliyev was born on 12 December 1939 in Baku. In 1966 he graduated from the acting faculty of the M. A. Aliyev Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts, and in 1972 he completed a two-year advanced screenwriting and directing course at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow. From 1966 until the end of his life he worked at the Azerbaijanfilm studio. He directed the films "The Dream", "The Last Stop" and "The Shift of Death", among others. He was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Art Worker of Azerbaijan. Fikrat Aliyev died on 8 March 2016 after a long illness. The director was laid to rest at the Amircan cemetery, beside the grave of his son.
