
Alasgar Alakbarov was born on 26 March 1910 in Baku. While studying at school, he began attending the drama club at the Alakbarov club. From 1927 to 1930 he studied at the Theatre Technical School in Baku. He then worked at the Baku Turkish Workers' Theatre, where he created memorable characters such as Haji Bakhshali ("The Dead") and the second municipal officer ("The Assault"). While working at the theatre, the actor started a family with actress Hokuma Gurbanova. From this marriage a daughter, Naila, was born. In 1933, when the Baku Turkish Workers' Theatre was relocated to Ganja, the young family also moved from Baku to Ganja. But before long their family fell apart. After separating from Hokuma Gurbanova, he married a Russian woman. He worked for several years at the Tbilisi Azerbaijani Theatre and at the Kirovabad Theatre, and from 1933 began working at the Academic Drama Theatre. He passed away on 31 January 1963. He was buried in the Alley of Honour.
