
Aghasadig Garaybeyli was born in 1897, just before Novruz, in the village of Garaybeyli, in what was then the Shamakhi uyezd and is now the Ismayilli district. He lost his father at an early age. He came to Baku and lived in the family of Alisattar and Heyran khanim. At school he was a classmate of Jafar Jabbarli. He studied under Huseyn Arablinski and Mirmahmud Kazimovski. Thanks to Huseyn Arablinski, he joined the amateur theatre circles "Nicat" and later "Səfa." In 1921 he played the role of the drunkard Iskander in Jalil Mammadguluzadeh's play "Ölülər." Through the support of Uzeyir Hajibeyov, he enrolled in theatre courses. He appeared on stage in around 200 different roles, makeups, and costumes: he performed in Narimanov's "Nadir şah," Uzeyir Hajibeyov's "Arşın mal alan," Jafar Jabbarli's "Sevil," "Od gəlini," and "1905-ci ildə," and later in "Vaqif," "Həyat," "On ikinci gecə," "Xanlar," and other productions. In 1940 he was awarded the honorary title of People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. Alongside theatre, he also created memorable characters in cinema. Among them is the club manager Aghabala in the film "Bəxtiyar" and Rustam bey in "O olmasın, bu olsun." From 1933 until the last day of his life, he worked at the Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theatre. He lived in the city centre, at 19 Khagani Street. There he was neighbours with Bulbul, People's Writer Mirza Ibrahimov, and People's Poet Suleyman Rustam.
