
Aghadadash Gurbanov was born on March 8, 1911, in Baku. On March 15, 1927, Latif Karimli's play "The Storm" was staged at the "Sailors' Club" by Aghadadash Gurbanov and a group of schoolchildren. This laid the foundation of the Young Spectators' Theatre (the Workers' Children's Theatre in Baku). From that time until 1952 the actor worked at the Young Spectators' Theatre, and from 1952 until the end of his life at the Azerbaijan State National Drama Theatre. At the Young Spectators' Theatre, Aghadadash Gurbanov, in productions intended for adult audiences, played Aydin in Jafar Jabbarli's "Aydin"; Karl Moor in Friedrich Schiller's "The Robbers"; Molla Ibrahimkhalil in Mirza Fatali Akhundzade's comedy "Molla Ibrahimkhalil the Alchemist"; Khlestakov in Nikolai Gogol's comedy "The Government Inspector"; Haji Gambar in Najaf bey Vazirov's comedy "Haji Gambar"; and, in "The Beggars", a play based on Rabindranath Tagore's story "Ganesh's Way", the character of Ganesh. At the Azerbaijan State National Drama Theatre, the actor performed the roles of Allan ("Family Honour", Huseyn Mukhtarov); Mirza Samandar, Abu Ubeyd, and Otgun ("Almaz", "The Fire Bride", and "The Turn", Jafar Jabbarli); Sheikh Marvan and Sheikh Sanan, and Siyavush ("Sheikh Sanan" and "Siyavush", Huseyn Javid); Camillo ("The Winter's Tale", William Shakespeare); Ibrahim Khan and Vagif ("Vagif", Samad Vurgun); Professor Mudrov ("The Beauty of Shirvan", Anvar Mammadkhanli); Schulz ("On Distant Shores", Imran Gasimov and Hasan Seyidbeyli); Ivanov ("The Eye Doctor", Islam Safarli); Musa the Blacksmith ("The Wedding", Sabit Rahman); and the Jew ("Marie Tudor", Victor Hugo). Aghadadash Gurbanov also appeared in a number of films. In 1941 he played the role of Abbasgulu Agha Bakikhanov in the film "Sabuhi". He also played Alvarado in "The Man in Chains", the Master in "The Secret of a Fortress", the professor in "Under the Scorching Sun", Hasan Khan in "Koroghlu", Zakir's father in "The Telephone Girl", and Bahram in "Our Street".
