
Ziya Agha was born in 1991 in the village of Muradbeyli, Aghdam district. From 2009 to 2015 he studied at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction. As a second education, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in "Drama theatre and film acting" at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. In 2013 he was cast in one of the lead roles in director Parviz Seyidli's short film "Sus" ("Be Quiet"), made for a festival. Later, in 2013, he was invited to the short film "Gurbagha" ("The Frog"), scripted by Ilgar Fahmi, and created a successful character. He began to gain recognition after playing the lead role in the full-length feature film "Chasing Dreams" ("Arzularin ardinca"). As a theatre actor, Ziya Agha first performed many roles on the stage of the "Sada" Training Theatre. He later began working as an actor for a time at the laboratory operating under the "Yugh" state theatre. He then continued his career at "M-Teatr," created by Honoured Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vidadi Hasanov. In 2017 he worked at the newly established independent Human Theatre. At the invitation of People's Artist Azar Pasha Nematov, artistic director and chief director of the Academic National Drama Theatre, he was invited to the Academic National Drama Theatre, where he currently performs in several productions. In 2019, at the invitation of Honoured Art Worker Mehriban Alakbarzade, he was invited to the Azerbaijan State Yugh Theatre, where he currently works. In 2019, at the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre operating in Vienna, he performed as an actor in the literary-artistic musical programme "Bulmusham haqqi..." dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Imadaddin Nasimi. In 2019, at the "GITIS Master Class" festival held in Moscow, he was chosen as the winner of the "Best Male Role" nomination for his strong performance in the mystical ballad-genre play "The Legend of Othello." In 2020 he was invited to the position of director of the department of special programmes and special projects of "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" CJSC and worked in that position for a time. He was later appointed chief director of "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" Closed Joint-Stock Company (2020–2021). He was awarded the President's Prize in 2020 and on 6 May 2023.
