
Zaur Shafiyev was born on 9 December 1980 in the city of Baku. He began first grade at secondary school No. 59 in the Khatai district, later continued his education at school No. 215 in the Nizami district, and graduated from school No. 245 in 1997. He then graduated from the faculty of international relations at Khazar University. He went on to study at the film producing faculty of Rustam Ibrahimbeyov's film school, and worked as an actor at the Ibrus Theatre. His first role was in a production staged by Rustam Ibrahimbeyov, an Azerbaijani adaptation of Molière's play "Tartuffe." Zaur Shafiyev has appeared in a number of series, films and short films. With one of his short films he took part in the Cannes Film Festival.
