Tahir Aliyev has worked as an assistant director at the 'Azerbaijanfilm' studio (1995–2000), as a film director at the 'Azerbaijantelefilm' Creative Union (2003–2007), as a director in the 'Special Projects' department of AzTV (2007–2008), and as a production director at the 'Salname' film studio (2008–2016). From 2016 to 2020 he served as artistic director of the Aran Film Creative Centre. He is secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Cinematographers. He is founder and director of the 'Nova Gorica' film centre and Azerbaijan's representative in the Slovenia-Azerbaijan Friendship Society. He has taken part in, and won awards at, numerous international film festivals. He is a member of the Azerbaijan Guild of Professional Film Directors.
