
Saida Guliyeva was born on March 5, 1957, in Baku. In 1978 she graduated from the Drama and Film Acting Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts. That same year, on assignment, she began working at the Academic National Drama Theatre. She made her debut on the main stage in 1979 as Hero in director A. Guliyev's production of William Shakespeare's comedy "Much Ado About Nothing". After that, the actress created a series of interesting characters in stage productions by various directors. On the stage of the Academic National Drama Theatre, S. Guliyeva has created a gallery of characters spanning many genres, including Bayim in Ilyas Afandiyev's historical drama "Khurshidbanu Natavan"; Sevinj in Sh. Gurbanov's drama "Without You"; Nastya in Maxim Gorky's "The Lower Depths"; the Garagoyunlu mother in Ali Amirli's "The Aghgoyunlu and Garagoyunlu"; Farangiz in Elchin's comedy "Ah, Paris! Paris!"; Hajar khanim in Suleyman Sani Akhundov's play "Love and Revenge"; the Woman in Nazim Hikmet's drama "The Head"; the Mother in Bakhtiyar Vahabzade's "The Gallows"; the Neighbour in Elchin's "The Murderer"; Chapal Surali in Mir Jalal's "The Risen Man"; Karbalayi Fatma in Jalil Mammadguluzade's "The Dead"; and Mother Earth in Abdulla Shaig's "Eloghlu". Saida Guliyeva was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Artist of the Republic in 2000 and People's Artist on May 9, 2012. She received the Presidential Prize on April 30, 2014, May 6, 2015, May 6, 2016, May 1, 2017, and May 9, 2018. On May 10, 2019, she was granted a personal pension from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
