Rauf Gurbanaliyev was born on 2 April 1988 in the Krasnoyarsk region of the Russian Federation. In 1990 he settled in the city of Baku. He received his initial education from 1995 to 2006 at pilot secondary school No. 82 in the Nariman Narimanov district of Baku. From 2006 to 2010 he studied at the cinematography faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. From 2011 to 2012 he worked at a film company. From 2010 to 2011 he served in the military in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. From 2011 to 2012 he worked as production cinematographer at the film company Azerbaijan International Filming (AIF Company).
