
Ofeliya Mammadzade graduated in 1977 from the Cultural-Educational Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts and began working at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre. There she skilfully created the characters of the Village Girl in H. Javid''s "Siyavush", Rana in "Iblis", the Bride and the Georgian Girl in S. Vurgun''s "Vagif", Firangiz in J. Jabbarli''s "Oktay Eloghlu", Kaklik in S. Rahman''s "The Lie", and Gowhar khanum in I. Afandiyev''s "Destroyed Diaries". In 1965 she began working as an actress at the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theatre. She left the theatre in 1999 and returned in 2005. Over many years on that theatre''s stage she performed the roles of Asya and Telli (in U. Hajibayov''s "Arshin Mal Alan" and "O Olmasin, Bu Olsun"), Matan khanum (Sh. Gurbanov''s "We Know Best"), Nazpari (R. Hajiyev''s "When Fates Unite") and Tashakkur khanum (R. Mustafayev''s "The Beloved of the Volga"). During this time she created many memorable characters. The characters she created at the "To Come, To See, To Laugh" Miniature Theatre were also unforgettable. O. Mammadzade worked alongside renowned masters of comedy such as Bashir Safaroghlu, Aliagha Aghayev and Hajibaba Bagirov. On 20 March 1987 Ofeliya Mammadzade was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Artist.
