Nigar Jamal was born on 7 September 1980 in Baku. From 1985 to 1986 she was a soloist in a children''s vocal ensemble. While studying at a music school from 1988 to 1996, Nigar Jamal composed a number of songs. She later took part in the "Pohra" competition in the 1995/1996 season and was awarded a certificate of honour. In 1997 Nigar Jamal graduated from Secondary School No. 203 in the Nizami district and enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and Management at Khazar University, graduating in 2001. Four years later she married Haluk Jamal, a Turkish national, and moved to London in the United Kingdom. In 2014 Nigar Jamal separated from her husband and returned to Azerbaijan. From this marriage Nigar Jamal has two daughters, Jasmin, born in 2006, and Saida, born in 2008.
