Kamran Shahmardan was born in 1972 in Baku. Some time later he founded the syncretic-genre theatre 'White and Black' in the city of Imatra. For 10 years he has lived and worked far from Azerbaijan, in the Finnish city of Imatra. The success he has achieved in theatre has made him known not only in his adopted country but throughout the world. Despite living far from his homeland, his ties with the Azerbaijani theatre scene remain very close. Proof of this is his staging, in quick succession and with very short breaks, of successful productions at three theatres: 'The Lonely Voice' at the 'Ibrus' Theatre, 'White and Black' at the A. Shaig State Puppet Theatre, 'Toragay' at the Russian Drama Theatre, and 'Telescope' at the Azerbaijan State Drama Theatre.
