
Farangiz Rahimbeyli was born on 5 August 1958 in the Lokbatan settlement near Baku. Her mother, Raisa, died at a very young age. Her father then remarried, to Raisa's cousin, a woman named Sona, who worked at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. It was, in effect, her stepmother who raised Farangiz, brought her up, supported her in obtaining higher education, and arranged her wedding. She has for many years lived at a care home located in Bilgah. In the 1980s she became one of the creators of modern Azerbaijani pop music. In 1986 the singer represented Azerbaijan at the 'Yurmala-86' song contest, placing fourth. Working with composers such as Rafig Babayev, Eldar Mansurov, Oktay Kazimov, Siyavush Karimi, Faig Sujaddinov and Jamil Amirov, Farangiz Rahimbeyova performed such songs as 'If You Forget Me', 'This Love', 'I Believe in Love', 'Desert', 'Let's Drift Apart', 'A Hope', 'Protect', 'High Mountains', 'Motherland', 'My Love Will Come', 'Qaragilya', as well as the folk songs 'Farewell, Farewell' and 'Look This Way'. Having also tried her hand as an actress in several films, Rahimbeyova's greatest success came with the role of Sevda in the film 'The Ring of Fate'. After divorcing her first husband, she moved with her daughter Raisa to Los Angeles, USA, in 1993. After moving to America, her daughter changed her name to Rachel. In 1999 she married the American architect Raymond Anthony there. She mainly sang at Russian restaurants in Los Angeles and ran a small business. In 2017, at the invitation of Tahir Imanov, she came to Baku and was cast again in the role of Seda in 'The Ring of Fate 2'. She died of a heart attack on 16 August 2022. The artist was buried on 6 September 2022 at Valley Oaks Memorial Park cemetery in Westlake Village, California.
