
Elnur Aliyev was born on 27 August 1981 in the Gadabay district. From 2000 to 2004 he studied at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, earning a degree in television directing and graduating with distinction. From 2004 to 2006 he pursued a master''s degree in television directing at the same university, again graduating with distinction. From 2006 to 2009 he pursued postgraduate studies and is the author of a dissertation on "Problems of Theme, Structure and Genre of Music Videos in the Azerbaijani Television Space" and of five scholarly articles. He has been a member of the Azerbaijan Guild of Professional Film Directors since 2003 and of the Azerbaijan Cinematographers'' Union since 2021. He worked as a director at the "Film" Producer Centre from 2004 to 2005, and as a director and screenwriter at the satirical newsreel "Mozalan" from 2005 to 2006. From 2005 to 2009 he was a leading editing specialist at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, and from 2007 to 2008 he worked as a producer at the "Baku Film" film studio, part of the ANS Group of Companies. In 2010 he worked as deputy executive producer on the feature film "Side Effect", produced at the J. Jabbarli "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio. From 2011 he has been the screenwriter and director of well-known projects on channels such as ATV, Space TV, AzTV, Lider TV and Khazar TV. During these years he also worked on a number of advertising spots and numerous musical advertising videos. The director''s 2013 short documentary-feature film "Heroes of the Unconquerable Fortress" tells the life and combat paths of four National Heroes from the Gadabay district — Mazahir Rustamov, Iskandar Aznaurov, Ilham Aliyev and Aytakin Mammadova. His 2018 film "Until the Last Breath", which he directed, is based on real events. In 2003 he was awarded a certificate of honour for his advertising film "Youth and Peace", dedicated to the UN International Day of Peace. In 2004 his documentary dedicated to People''s Artist Jannat Salimova won second place in the "Best Documentary" category at the "START" Student Film Festival.
