
Ali Jafarzade is an Azerbaijani composer, born on 27 January 2004. He received his first musical education at the Bulbul Secondary Specialized Music School, where he studied composition in the class of composer Ayaz Gambarli. In 2021 he was admitted to the composition programme of the Uzeyir Hajibayli Baku Music Academy, and in 2025 he successfully completed his bachelor''s degree in the class of composer and associate professor Arzu Mammadova, after which he was admitted to the academy''s master''s programme. During his studies, Ali Jafarzade''s works have been performed at various concerts, competitions and international projects. In 2022 his work for string orchestra and piano, "4 Paradoxes", was among the four works selected in the Cadenza Orchestra''s "Call for Scores" competition; the piece was read through as part of a workshop and later performed by the orchestra in a concert programme. That same year he gave a talk titled "From Webern Towards New Music" at the 2nd International Scientific-Practical Conference on "The Dialogue of Eastern and Western Musical Cultures". He also took part in masterclasses given by Estonian composer Eevi Leppik and Russian composer Alexander Khubeyev. In 2023 his work "Behind a Closed Door" was again among the works selected in the Cadenza Orchestra''s "Call for Scores" competition and was performed by the orchestra. In 2024 his work "9 Perspectives" was one of three works selected in the Cadenza Orchestra''s competition. That work later won first place at the Agidel Waves International Composers'' Competition, organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan. That same year his work "Morse" won first place at the international Johann Sebastian Bach competition held in Poland.
