
She was born on 23 January 1989 in the city of Baku, into the family of Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva. From 1995 to 2006 she received her secondary education at Secondary School No. 160 in Baku. She later obtained her higher education in Switzerland and the United Kingdom. In 2008 Arzu Aliyeva appeared in a promotional video clip about Azerbaijan. This video clip was broadcast on the CNN and Euronews channels. Arzu Aliyeva's wedding took place on 3 September 2011. She married Samad Gurbanov, son of the Azerbaijani businessman Aydin Gurbanov, who is active in Russia. According to Arzu Aliyeva, executive producer of the documentary film "Hədəf Bakıdır" (The Target Is Baku), the main purpose of creating the documentary "Hədəf Bakıdır. Hitler neft uğrunda döyüşü necə uduzdu" (The Target Is Baku: How Hitler Lost the Battle for Oil) was to preserve Azerbaijan's heroic history and to convey it to the growing younger generation and to the world community. The film "Əbədi ezamiyyət" (Eternal Assignment) is the second documentary produced by the Baku Media Center under the executive production of Arzu Aliyeva. The first documentary, "Hədəf Bakıdır. Hitler neft uğrunda döyüşü necə uduzdu", was shown in May 2015 on local television channels in Azerbaijan and, via the "National Geographic" channel, in 26 countries.
